Hi guys. Been a while since I've poked my head in.
I have a fairly specific question. I always enjoy reading WT response letters to publishers sending in questions. One of the first I saw was a reprint about someone asking about the feasibility of Noah's Ark. It was a great read. Similar letters have been copied for posterity related to blood, and 1914, etc....
Would you guys know if there are any such letters out there is response to people asking about the issues with sexual abuse over the years, and their policies?
Thanks in advance peeps.

The awful treatment of my disfellowshipped cousin still continues
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy cousin was disfellowshipped twenty years ago when he was 18 years old.
he admitted to the congregation elders that he was fornicating with his ''wordly'' girlfriend.
the elders were following him and hiding in their cars to see what he was up to.

I'm sorry your cousin has to deal with that.
If he was baptized at a young age, and claims he did not understand what he was getting into subsequently being DF'd at 18, it is POSSIBLE, for him to protest his shunning with the local brothers and branch.
In particular the new elders book that was leaked makes allowances for something like "time served" in certain situations.
"I was baptized a minor....I should not have been. My family believes in shunning me continuously over this technicality. As a result both they and I suffer. This behavior in and of itself has made me not want to connect with the religion of my youth. I am neither an "evildoer" nor "sinning". Is this sort of long term family excommunication really the point of this doctrine to begin with?"
Now this would take some work and unpleasantness to be sure.....but it might be away out of this at the local level.
I certainly hope he does not allow his family to see his child or wife while they shun him. Talking about sending your kid the wrong message. Though I would never judge the guy either way. That is a tough one.

Babies Who Are Not Dead From An Abortion
by minimus ina woman gets an abortion.
the baby is supposed to die because of the abortion but doesn’t.
should that living baby be put to death or should the baby be given medical help to survive?.

I honestly can't figure out if this is a real thing, or just some sort of stunt vote to rile up conservative bases.
If a baby can breath out of the womb, the abortion is illegal. Lets keep in mind that if for some reason a baby is born extremely pre-mature (like 18 weeks or so maybe?), the baby may still attempt to breath with what faculties it has, but will not have the capacity to be able to sustain its own life. It is essentially gasping and dying a terrible death.
Babies develop at different rates of course. So there is some + or - here. But I am just not convinced that this is something that actually occurs.
Late term abortions should not be allowed unless the mothers life is gravely and certainly threatened in my opinion. If the fetus is viable outside of the womb, i think its too late to change your mind.
But this thing just sort of stinks as some sort of stunt. In fact, the republican reactions to it were hyperbolic, and the mem soldiers are out painting anyone willing to have a conversation about it as someone who embraces infanticide. So it just sort of seems inauthentic to me.

EM,
Welcome to the board. I realize you may not exactly like what people here have to say, but i think it is worth considering.
First, the earth is in fact a globe. Your "research" is flawed, and not scientifically based. I would wager, that mentally, it is easier for you to accept the impossible and a level of conspiracy here to unknown in the world, rather than consider the bible may have gotten something wrong.
But no need to look at it like that. In an ancient culture, someone standing in a high place, would think they were standing on a big disk looking out onto the horizon. They would have had no other real frame of reference. So they wrote what they saw.
If you were teaching the bible says the earth is flat, then what you were doing was going against the branch, and thats a good way to get removed, and probably one of the only reasons its a good idea to do so.
So I would say, you should at least consider that you have been taken in by at least two unscientific views that lack evidence. The first being that the earth is flat, the second being the authenticity and relation to God the bible has.

Cart witnessing at the Toyota Grand Prix
by Dagney inpicture 185,000 people on the streets attending the biggest event in long beach.
there is a main downtown street which is the only way into the grand prix.
it’s chaos because it is not private property that can be contained; these are working boulevards with cars and people vying to get where they want to go.

Web traffic statistics released for the Reddit ExJW Subreddit
by darkspilver infwiw, the moderators have released the traffic statistics for the reddit exjw subreddit.
.
web statistics are not generally an exact science - the 'best' indication is normally the 'unique' visitor number - although one person may be using more than one device to access the website (ie using desktop and mobile), but also more than one person may being using the same device (ie a shared home desktop).. on a forum-style website, the number of 'page views' is a bit pointless as it will normally always be much, much higher than a non-forum-style website - but it can give a general idea on how engaged visitors are (how many topics/threads they are reading).

Simon, frequenting that site I would say it is one that quite a few teens and 20 somethings "stumble" on when allowing themselves to be naughtly on the internet. My experience is only anecdotal, but it appears to be a pretty nice mix of people, including QUITE a few PIMO people planning their exit or unable to for one reason or the other. Some subscribers (almost 20K) are ex-mormons or other "cult cousins" that take an interest. There definitely seems to be a correlation between some of the larger events in JW land and more people being driven there.
Nice as one more resource. I always recommend this site over there in particular for the archive which has some of the most amazing research and "old school" conversations from some of the best of former years. Its a window into a world that WT wants to whitewash as much as possible.

So you're worried about the Big A, or the North Korean bombs? Sorry everyone, Japan is the one that has likely screwed us all.

My initial impression of this woman and her discussion is that while she no doubt has some great points, she also borders on a bit of conspiracy. She calims the USA used Uranium in Fahlujah (sp?). To what end exactly? She said 80% of babies are being born with monster deformities, and the officials are saying to not have children, and that childhood cancer has gone up by a factor of 12x. I can't really find anything to corroborate that. 40% of Europe is radioactive? That statement is pretty ridiculous if you have half a brain.
I don't know about this one. Is the damage from Fukushima more likely worse than we think or are told? I don't think that is a stretch. Should we all "begind to panic, crack open each others heads, and feast on the goo inside?" (Simpsons reference)......"Yes Kent I think we should!"
But not really.

The persecution complex is strong. Apparently if you don't accept a rainbow bracelet.....you will be yelled at by strangers and forced to declare marriage is between a man and a woman!
Unbelievable.
